We had a couple of all-consuming trips planned in January. We were in Disney for a long weekend over New Years which was amazing and definitely got me excited for the Dopey Challenge next year. We left as all the runners were arriving and you could feel the excitement with all of the signs, postings everywhere and those that were clearly there for race weekend. We also were in Austin … [Read more...] about January Progress
Living the Life
I didn't have the best year in health or in fitness. I worked out when I could, but consistency was unfortunately not happening. Not only was my health holding me back but I also failed to set a really great exciting big goal. I know from previous experience that when I set a crazy goal it motivates the hell out of me. Enter the anniversary year of the Dopey Challenge 2018. A Run Disney Race … [Read more...] about New Year Big Goals
Ok I have to admit I'm a complete planning geek. I love planners, journals, sketch books - you name it I've bought it. As I was starting to think about this next year I realized part of my problem was all these different books. I had a book for tracking fitness, a separate book for running, my phone, my wall calendar and a desk calendar/planner. Ugh no wonder I totally lost … [Read more...] about Planning ahead
Well - I had some health setbacks this year. My thyroid went all wonky again early in the year bringing with it about 15 extra pounds. It took months to feel normal from that swing once they upped my medication again. After that I was having intermittent severe stomach pains. After a ct scan, a visit with my regular doc, my lady doc and my rheumatologist all who didn't have any solid reason I … [Read more...] about 2016 A year in review
When I set my goal to run Wine and Dine I had never run a full mile. I was not a runner period. I have a lot of health issues to over come on a daily basis and my whole family thought I had completely lost my mind. Fast forward a whole bunch of training miles, IV treatments and doctors appointments and here I am Running the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon with my son Taylor. Our … [Read more...] about 2014 Wine and Dine Recap!
I was ahead! I was running my training schedule and doing P90X3. What happened next just really derailed me – Allergy Season. The pollen vortex (really that is what our news called it) kicked my ass. Training schedule blown, P90X3 delayed ugh so frustrating. I’ve gotten allergy shots for about 9 years now. Last season I barely felt spring but this season was a different story. Basically … [Read more...] about Catching my Breath and Running On!
Just realized that the schedule I was using was an 18 week schedule and I have 34 weeks until race day! That means i'm ahead! … [Read more...] about Training Schedule!
So my running buddy and oldest son is home from college this week for spring break. As he has agreed to do this run with me this November - he said he would go running with me this week. The weather last week was so cold I didn't get out at all during the week. Earlier in the week there was a lot of ice on the roads and then it just never got warm - until Saturday. Saturday we picked up Taylor … [Read more...] about Counting down to the half!
So as I find sometimes I need a big goal (one that seems slightly unattainable at the time) I've decided to do a half marathon race this year. Disney World has always been a magical and special place for me and their races actually look fun so I thought - what better to strive toward than a Run Disney Half Marathon. Enter - the Wine and Dine Disney Half Marathon. What race is better than one … [Read more...] about Run Disney 2014
As a P90X Grad I have shouted from the rooftops about the awesomeness of that program. However, it is a time investment! Most P90X workouts are 60 to 90 min long. P90X2 – SAME boat. Enter P90X3 – and FINALLY we are into a short but highly effective workout. 30 MIN everyone! Everyone should be able to work in 30 min for themselves during their day. My T25 Challenge group proved that 25 min is way … [Read more...] about Are you Ready to Bring it P90X3 Style?
