Ok I have to admit I'm a complete planning geek. I love planners, journals, sketch books - you name it I've bought it. As I was starting to think about this next year I realized part of my problem was all these different books. I had a book for tracking fitness, a separate book for running, my phone, my wall calendar and a desk calendar/planner. Ugh no wonder I totally lost … [Read more...] about Planning ahead
Well - I had some health setbacks this year. My thyroid went all wonky again early in the year bringing with it about 15 extra pounds. It took months to feel normal from that swing once they upped my medication again. After that I was having intermittent severe stomach pains. After a ct scan, a visit with my regular doc, my lady doc and my rheumatologist all who didn't have any solid reason I … [Read more...] about 2016 A year in review
As a P90X Grad I have shouted from the rooftops about the awesomeness of that program. However, it is a time investment! Most P90X workouts are 60 to 90 min long. P90X2 – SAME boat. Enter P90X3 – and FINALLY we are into a short but highly effective workout. 30 MIN everyone! Everyone should be able to work in 30 min for themselves during their day. My T25 Challenge group proved that 25 min is way … [Read more...] about Are you Ready to Bring it P90X3 Style?
Well after much experimenting I have been happily Vegan since December 1. I still occasionally eat fish but other than that have made a full transition. My husband has pretty much joined me as well - the teens - not so much. With that said - I am now starting week 5 of Focus T25 and am loving it. So far I have lost 5 pounds total and a bunch of inches and my challenge group in total has lost … [Read more...] about Vegan and Focus T25
Why is fitness and nutrition so important to me? My WHY is what I think of when I feel like quitting. Whether I am thinking of skipping my workout that day or quitting the program I am on - I think back to WHY I started. For me my why is simple - Everyday I do some kind of exercise whether its walking, stretching or a workout program to prevent Lupus from taking control of my body making me … [Read more...] about Why your “Why” is so important!
Ok, I have to say for myself I have had a tough winter. I have lost a very close friend to breast cancer, my son has had a number of surgeries and I have felt the effects of Lupus most of the season. It's been challenging to say the least. But its spring, flowers are blooming, the weather is warming and I feel an urgency to get back to living well. Since going vegan in December I have lost a … [Read more...] about Ah Spring – Renewal – Get your butt off the couch and get fit!
Beachbody has some amazing programs that really are total body workouts. However, we are human and guess what – we sometimes get bored with our workouts. Sometimes we feel that these workouts give us a lot of one thing but we feel we miss something from another one. As I am almost 60 days into Turbo Fire I am really missing weight training. Turbo Fire does have strength training workouts using … [Read more...] about Les Mills Pump and Turbo Fire Hybrid

I am a bit behind on this post. Last week was the last week of school for my youngest who is now going to be a sophomore in high school. My oldest is home from college and in a lot of ways I let the week get away from me. I worked out half as much as usual but I still did really well eating healthy. This weekend I got my act together, made my plan for the week and got back to my usual workout … [Read more...] about Staying Accountable Week of June 11th
I hear this from so many people. How many of you have gym memberships but only go once a month? How about once every 6 months? That was me! I was one of those people. We paid hundreds of dollars a month for a family membership to the YMCA and hardly ever went. My excuses for not going weren’t anything special… It’s cold out (I’m not a fan of the cold), I don’t have that much time, I’ll do it … [Read more...] about I can’t do a Beachbody program at home – I need a buddy to keep me going!
